Scenes from the Westcoat (Denmark 2024)

Frames I shot during a vacation in Denmark last month. We rented a house in the dunes, which, for many Germans, is a classic vacation. We drove up North along the coast, sometimes on a small pit of land with a Fjord to the right and the North Sea to the left, often on road 11, a two-lane Country road that stretches endlessly straight ahead across gently rolling hills through farmland. It wasn't high season yet which gave us a sense of solitude and which fit my photography...

The light on those beaches in the North of Denmark is very special. The sandy beaches and vast dunes that stretch endlessly into the horizon coupled with sun and sea spray produce a bright and blinding light. All the time I couldn't help but thinking that one needs to be a painter to adequately capture this sublime light, just like a group of painters, who formed the Skagen School 150 years ago, did. During the hours we spent on the beach I got so extraordinarily inspired. How to capture this vast
